The older we get, the more we're tasked with. Being a daughter, a wife, a mother, a professional, a fixer, a planner, the center of a household. We are asked to play so many parts in every day life and we do it all. The problem for many of us is that our sense of self gets lost along the way. Who am I? What do I want out of life? What do I believe in? When is it time for me?
These are questions that stir around the back of our minds and never seem to get answered. So many women end up feeling stuck, anxious, and unhappy in their lives because they feel so dedicated to everyone other than themselves. That's where I come in.
Hi, my name is Melissa Michaud and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor here in Colorado. I love helping other women find themselves again in all of the chaos that we call life. If you're looking for a counselor that is specifically focused on you -- as a woman -- and all that that entails, I would love to help you find your way out of the darkness and into a new, brighter version of your life.
Some of the things we can overcome together are:
Anxiety
Depression
Relationship Struggles/Divorce
Adjusting to Motherhood
Self-Worth and Confidence
Career Changes/ Returning to the Workforce
Grief and Change
So many of us could have avoided a difficult transition into adulthood if we would have had support and guidance during our adolescent and teenage years. This reason alone is why I've also dedicated my practice to helping teenage girls transition from Middle School through to Adulthood. I have had the pleasure of helping girls find themselves -- and their way -- throughout their High School careers and through very difficult times. Some of the things we've conquered together are:
Often, my girls end up thinking of me as a big sister or a second mother to them, helping them heal and cope. They grow from hurt, angry teens into thriving, healthy women.
While it's important to be the best selves we can be, sometimes our partners need to join in on the process of growth and healing. As someone that is intimately tuned into the process of being a wife (and a marriage counselor), I have a unique vantage point with which to assist you both. In turn as a couple you will have the opportunity to bring your new-found strengths together to reinvigorate your love for life and each other.
Some things that we can work tackle together are:
Communication Skills
Pre-Marital Issues
Intimacy
Affair Recovery
Blended Family/Step-Parenting
Amicable Separation
Balancing Business and Relationship
